Hard soil trencher Arthropod 600

The ‘Arthropod 600’ is capable of trenching pipelines from 12” to 50” OD at a maximum burial depth of 3.5 m (bottom of trench). The standard design is suitable for water depths between 4 and 350 meters and can handle slopes up to 10 degrees in any direction.

Although the initial requirement for the machine was to handle hard soils at least up to 400 kPa, the cutters can, in practice, work through much harder soils. In addition to the cutters, the trencher is also equipped with a separate tool for removing soft soils and sand.

The ‘Arthropod 600’ is remotely-operated from an air-conditioned control cabin. An umbilical winch - supplied with the system - allows the storage of a 400 metre long umbilical.  Two hydraulically driven tracks drive the trencher at a maximum speed of 400 m/hr and a nominal operating speed of 60 m/hr.
