Fallpipe/Rockdump ROV

Seatools has designed, fabricated, tested and delivered more fallpipe/rockdump ROV’s than any other company in the world.  Experience counts when it comes to developing vehicles capable of withstanding extreme underwater conditions, high currents and tropical water temperatures. Next you see ROV-5, first delivered to Van Oord nv in 2007. Designed to operate in harsh environments, the ROV is of rugged construction, with a robust steel frame and powerful thrusters capable of dealing with the inevitable rock-spoil that passes by. Power for the thrusters and for operation of the survey equipment frame is supplied by a single 75 kW powerpack. An important aspect of this particular design is ease of mobilization and demobilization:

• All equipment can be transported within three 20-foot containers
• The control desk is a standalone portable unit that can be quickly and easily installed and uninstalled on the bridge
• The same ease of installation applies for the systems’ switchboard, which is housed in a 20-foot container, together with a comprehensive set of spares and tools
• During the ROV’s development, Seatools’ designers simulated the performance of both the thrusters and the thrust- and heading control systems in detail, subjecting each to extensive virtual testing in order to minimize in-the-field testing.
