Introducing new levels of reliability in mooring monitoring

Following an extensive market review and R&D program, Seatools introduces the ultra-reliable MoorMate mooring monitoring system. The MoorMate system is designed to provide full insight into the integrity of mooring systems for a wide range of new and existing floaters including FPU’s, FPSO’s, CALM buoys, and floating wind turbines. Based on two completely independent techniques for the detection of mooring line failures, the system features a unique set-up. On the one hand, it is based on DPGS with advanced signal processing algorithms, on the other hand on mooring line measurements (i.e. angle and depth). This hybrid set-up results in an ultra-reliable mooring line failure detection alarm: the risk of false negative and false positive alarms is virtually eliminated.

The superior system not only relates to alarm reliability but is also founded on mechanical reliability. This is for instance made possible by the usage of durable synthetic materials allowing a long-term protection against galvanic corrosion or biofouling. Another unique feature of the system is that it requires no divers during the complete lifetime of the system. Thanks to the patent pending mechanical design, the system can be installed, maintained, and removed by means of an ROV, enhancing operational safety and allowing the installation on both new and existing floaters.

Due to Seatools’ core competence of developing and delivering custom-made subsea solutions, the MoorMate system can be customized to a degree it meets any client need, when it comes to the monitoring and analysis of mooring system integrity.

    The 20 years design lifetime is made possible by: usage of synthetic materials only (except transponder), no vulnerable cables and connectors, and preventing the system from being susceptible to the loads during installation operations.
